Tulsa Youth Rowing Association is offering a free rowing clinic for youth aged 13 to 18 on February 15th at the University of Tulsa Zink Rowing Tank from 9am to 2pm. The clinic is geared toward middle school and high school students who are interested in learning more about rowing and how they might become involved in our community youth rowing program.
The clinic will be run by Great Britain Junior National Team Member, Division I Athlete, USRowing Level III Coach, Neil Bergenroth. Bergenroth will be assisted by the coaching staff of The Tulsa Youth Rowing Association.
Bergenroth has led the Tulsa Youth Rowing Association to success and growth on a National and International Stage, and brings 30 years of experience in the sport and now specializes in coaching professional development. He will be accompanied by Coach Tamara Clayton, a previous Division I athlete herself, is a USRowing certified Level II Coach with experience in coxing, lightweight, and openweight rowing.
The clinic is free and a box lunch will be served at 11am. The primary goal of the clinic is to teach rowing fundamentals that help improve technique and performance on the Concept2 rowing machine in addition to provide some experience rowing in the tank on campus. Students will learn rowing fundamentals as well as play fun games and STEM activities to further their understanding of science and rowing technique.
At the end of the clinic, there will be a discussion about our program initiatives and what are the next steps to becoming involved in our competitive and recreational programs. We invite parents to join this discussion starting at 1:45pm.
Participants are under no obligation to commit to join the team or any program following their involvement in this clinic.
