Six Rowers Break Longest Continual Row World Records

Tulsa, OK – As part of the Tulsa Rowing Club Juniors Row-A-Thon this past weekend, six rowers broke longest continual row world records on the Concept2 Rowing Ergometer. The combined total distance rowed by all six rowers was over 1,000,000m.

Bishop Kelley Junior Nicole Baumann was successful in her attempt to break the under 19 heavyweight longest continual row. This record stood at 25 hours and Baumann rowed for a total of 30 hours beating the record by five hours.

“I feel really tired right now but accomplished,” said Baumann in the last hour of her record-breaking row.

Accompanying Baumann was Cascia Hall senior Victoria Richter. Together Bauman and Richter set the women’s tandem heavyweight under 19 record at 30 hours.

Jenks Sophomore Christopher Foley and Union Freshman Garrett Allan broke the male tandem under 19 and lightweight record by rowing for 28 hours and 13 minutes. The pair rowed a total distance of 233,561km.

“Breaking the record was harder than I thought it would be, especially at 3:00 in the morning but the support of my team and rowing partner got me through, and I am proud to have accomplished my goal” said Allan of the effort.
