The winter months are an invaluable time for rowers to fine tune general skills and focus on developing a strong physical foundation with power that will make for a more competitive athlete. The program will provide an opportunity for athletes to get a head start in skill development leading into the spring season. Each athlete’s training will also be characterized by a strong emphasis on individual skill and long-term physical development. Training will occur only on land and will include Concept2 rowing machines, calisthenics, and stretching.

Our coaches are aware than no two athletes are the same. The winter conditioning programming provided by our coaches helps our athletes in the areas that the need to improve in.

Individualized coaching takes many forms:

  1. Goal setting for each individual athlete.
  2. Video analysis for learning and improving technique.
  3. Specific workout targets for each workout so that athletes training in the optimal performance zone.
  4. Video tutorials for coxswains to aid in improving skill level.

The Tulsa Youth Rowing Association Winter Training program is open to both current competitive and gROWth athletes. Newcomers who are in the 9th-12th grade and are interested in joining our competitive team in the spring may also register. The program is a co-ed structure with four practices per week. Sign-up is limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Although attendance is not taken, please do not sign up and fill a space unless you can commit to at least a 50% attendance rate. Rowers who cannot attend Winter Training should discuss alternate options with Coach T in regards to maintaining their fitness level over the winter.

– Registration paid in full prior to your first practice
– Physical before first practice (to be completed annually)


Practices will primarily be held at Sandusky Avenue Christian Church (1101 S Sandusky Ave, Tulsa, OK) In the event that Sandusky is occupied during our normal practice time, practices will be held at the University of Tulsa Women’s Rowing Team indoor practice facility located inside the Mabee Gymnasium (NE corner of S. Florence and E. 8th St).


Below is the structured schedule for the entire Winter Training program:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
4:45pm – 6:45pm
*There will be no practice on Thursday, November 23 (Thanksgiving), and Monday, December 25 (Christmas).
$200 for 8 weeks of training*
Detailed individualized training with individual video footage


In order to complete your registration and reserve your space, your online payment must be submitted prior to the first day of your session. If spaces are still available after the first practice on November 13, we will accept registrations up until November 22 or until the program is full.


Done through our FREE TeamApp – it is available for iOS and Android in the app store, or you can access the portal via the web at This is a private portal and membership must approved by the head coach.
