The Tulsa Youth Rowing Association is proud to announce that Jackson Linson has been selected to row for the Midwest region in the inaugural USRowing Youth Regional Challenge taking place on September 23 and 24, 2017.
The event will take place in Sarasota-Bradenton, Florida and will be followed by the World Rowing Championships. Linson will join over three-hundred rowers from across the US and will row in a crew that represents the Midwest against five other regions. Linson is in his third year as a competitive athlete with the Tulsa Youth Rowing Association. Linson started to row with the club after attending a summer introductory camp.
“I’m excited that as a junior athlete, not only will I attend the World Rowing Championships, but I’ve also been asked to join the Midwest Team at the Youth Regional Challenge. It is an honor to represent TYRA while I race with the best rowers from across the country. I’m grateful for the opportunity,” said Linson.
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity that allows under-19 rowers the chance to experience the World Rowing Championships on the water and not just from the spectator stands. The racing promises to be exciting and the organizers of the World Championships are excited to partner with USRowing for this event. It is likely that some of the athletes participating in the youth challenge will one day participate in the World Championships representing the United States.
