This past weekend the Tulsa Youth Rowing Association competed at the USRowing Central District Youth Rowing Championships in Oklahoma City. The team had respectable showings in the mens youth single, womens 2nd double and freshman quad.
Jackson Linson Christian Education Alliance (CEA) and Tulsa Tech rowed to a sixth place finish in the final of the mens youth singles on Sunday morning.
“We gave it our all. We raced hard and some of us even made it to finals. Through it all, the team supported each other and that made Central Districts a success for TYRA.”, said Jackson of his team’s efforts.
At the close of the day the freshman quad composed of Elizabeth McClain (Montessori), Anikah Rahman (Jenks), Anna Tharakan (Jenks), Jaqueline Schula (BTW) placed 3rd in the final.
Emma Reynolds (Owasso) and Mackenzie Sullins (Epic Charter) rowed well on the Saturday to make the final of the Junior Womens 2nd Double.
After an intense weekend of racing, TYRA’s spring season has come to an end. This also means the ending of a high school rowing career for our graduating senior, Victoria Williams.
“Tori progressed the team and was a driving force to the success of our program throughout the past years. She has made a mark that will help the team get faster in years to come! I am proud of what the team accomplished this weekend, and I look forward to the summer camps beginning in June!” said TYRA Head Coach Tamara Clayton.
