Tulsa, OK – Due to the high demand from the community the Tulsa Rowing Club Juniors will offer two more beginners camps for 7th through 12th graders in the month of July. The camps will be on the following dates.
July 2nd – July 7th (Off for Independence Day) (6:00pm to 8:00pm Mon, Tues, Thur, Fri and 8:00am to 10:00am on Saturday 7th of July)
July 9th – July 13th (6:00pm to 8:00pm)
The cost for the each camp will be $100. Participants can get more information about the camps and enroll via the club’s website at www.tulsarowing.org/juniors.
The five-day camp will feature two hours of instruction at the University of Tulsa’s Rowing Tank and will be followed by four days of instruction on the water the rest of the week. This June, the club has hosted summer camps with over sixty athletes trying the sport for the first time.
“The club is experiencing a huge amount of growth following a successful season that culminated in a 9th place finish for the Girls Varsity Four with coxswain at US Rowing Youth Nationals. We want to be able to offer more student athletes the chance to participate and learn about the sport of rowing,” said Head Coach Neil Bergenroth. “Many of our athletes are creating scholarship opportunities for themselves at the college level and this is an exciting development for our club.” Bergenroth continued.
The team was recently featured on Explore Tulsa Channel and this can be viewed here.
The fall season for the team starts on August 15th and will feature trips to Austin, TX, Boston, MA and Wichita, KS. The club also hopes to send a team of athletes to the United Kingdom next summer to compete in the Henley Royal Regatta.
