The Tulsa Rowing Club Juniors are looking for high school aged athletes to join their competitive high school program. The program is offering a basic training program for beginners to the sport the week of August 27th to 31st. The basic training session will take place at in Catoosa, OK due to low river levels in the downtown Arkansas at this point in time. Sessions will run Monday through Friday from 4:30pm to 6:30pm. The club is coming off a very successful 2011-12 rowing season and has grown to sixty members in a short period of time. This past summer over fifty student athletes tried to the sport for the first time. The team regularly competes on the national level and our athletes are also successful in gaining college scholarships at universities all over the US. Most recently, the club placed ninth in the nation in the women’s varsity fours.
The club is recruiting individuals who are looking for a challenge and are interested in becoming involved in one of the fastest growing high school sports in the city of Tulsa.
Participants in the basic training will learn rowing technique, boat handling and safety aspects to the sport.
