Who & What?

The Tulsa Youth Rowing Association (TYRA) is offering a one-week Learn to Row course that is open to all 7th through 12th-grade student-athletes. Activities include learning how to row in rowing shells, handling equipment, river safety, land training, and technical instruction.  No experience is required as this is an introductory course for beginners. Athletes wanting to join the competitive team for the 2019 Spring Season are required to complete one of the following: a summer camp, a Learn to Row/Basic Training course, or a gROWth season. Learn to Row is not required in order to join our recreational gROWth program; however, it is highly encouraged.

Where & When?

Practices will be held at Sandusky Avenue Christian Church or at the TU Boathouse in Catoosa (depending on weather conditions), January 12-18.

Monday 1/14 Sandusky 4:45pm-6:45pm

Tuesday 1/15 Catoosa 4:45pm-6:45pm

Wednesday 1/16 Sandusky 4:45pm-6:00pm

Thursday 1/17 Catoosa 4:45pm-6:45pm

Friday 1/18 Catoosa 4:45pm-6:45pm

How Much?

The one-week course is $100 and includes one official TYRA team shirt. This $100 fee can be applied to the spring competitive season fees (approximately $1,500 per semester) if the participant plans to race on a competitive level with our team. Participants are also eligible to join the recreational “gROWth” program ($375 per semester) if they are not able to commit to the more rigorous competitive team schedule. Please call Coach Tamara Clayton (918-606-4596) for specific questions about Learn to Row, the recreational gROWth program, or the TYRA competitive team.
