Tulsa Rowing Club Christens Boat In Honor of Cascia Hall Parents Booster Support.
On Saturday April 28th as part of the Route 66 Regatta event the Tulsa Rowing Club christened one of four new rowing shells. Last year the club took on the challenge of a major capital campaign and raised over $90,000 to purchase four top of the line racing shells and another coaching launch. The club received a great deal of support from current families involved with the juniors program. In particular, the club has received significant help from families whose children row for Tulsa Rowing Club Juniors and attend Cascia Hall Preparatory School.
As a gesture of gratitude and thanks the Tulsa Rowing Club decided to name one of the new coxed fours “St. Augustine” in recognition of the support that Cascia Hall parents have offered the program. Headmaster of Cascia Hall, Roger Carter was present at the event to officially christen the boat.
The club has seen tremendous growth in the last decade as it has grown from ten athletes to sixty. The club regularly offers camps to recruit new rowers from the 7th grade to the 12 grade into the program. This summer the club will offer four one week introductory rowing camps to prepare for the 2012-13 rowing season. Full details and online enrollment can be found on the club’s website at http://www.tulsarowingclub.org/juniors.
