gROW Tulsa Youth Fundraising – An Open Letter To Our Supporters

I am writing to you at this time because I work under the philosophy that it doesn’t hurt to ask. Our program currently stands at 67 athletes in the program rowing at some level be it competitive or recreational.

As a result of this growth, we have received numerous financial assistance applications to help support those families who cannot afford to pay all of the costs associated with participation in the program.  At this time, fall dues stand at $620 and travel costs for the fall are estimated to be $726 per athlete.

I can tell you that our team of athletes is exceptionally hardworking and deserving of the opportunity to be a part of our rowing community.  In short, we don’t have enough funds at this time to grant financial assistance to all of the applications. I’m looking for a solution to provide some assistance and continue to open doors for our Tulsa youth.

If you can help us with our fundraising for our financial assistance fund at this time we would be extremely grateful. We would appreciate all donations from $1 upwards. Anything that you can do to help would be appreciated and would directly benefit those who deserve the opportunity.

Our program has done some wonderful things for the youth of Tulsa over the past ten years or so. We have represented Tulsa at the regional, national and international level. Our most recent trips to nationals resulted in the best results that we have ever achieved. In addition, our most recent trip to the UK to represent Oklahoma at the prestigious Henley Royal Regatta was a huge historical milestone.

With that said, it’s possible that some of our athletes may never make it to a regional championship or to nationals. However, I am of the opinion that regardless of athletic ability the determination to work hard and become skilled in what is a lifelong sport is what is most important. Each athlete that turns up at our doors deserves the chance to be a part of our community.

If you can help, we appreciate it. If you can’t help at this time, that’s OK as well. We continue to appreciate your past support and look to build upon it as best we can.

If you have any questions about how you can help, please feel free to contact me on 918.906.5233. Alternatively, you might be able to connect us to someone who can help.  We are going to have a great season representing Tulsa to the best of our ability!

Yours in Rowing,

Neil Bergenroth
