Tulsa Youth Rowing Association Hosts The Route 66 Regatta April 1st, 2017

On April 1st, 2017 the Tulsa Youth Rowing Association will host the Route 66 Invitational Regatta at Roger’s Point Park in Catoosa, OK. Rowing Teams from Oklahoma and surrounding states will compete in side by side sprint races over a 1000m race course on the McClellan-Kerr channel close to the Port of Catoosa.

This is the third time TYRA has hosted this event. The regatta has grown over the years and looks to continue that trend. Last year the event featured three hundred rowers from ten different programs from Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas and Kansas. Racing will start around 7:00am and will finish around 5:00pm. Many different boat types will be racing from single sculls to eight sweep boats. The teams participating will feature youth athletes and adult masters rowers.

The regatta serves as a fundraiser for TYRA and is also a platform to help promote the sport of rowing in the region.

TYRA invites members of the local media to view the races. There will be an opportunity for camera crews and reporters to ride in a launch to view the races very closely.

TYRA will be offering week-long summer camps for 7th to 12th-grade student-athletes in the month of June. For more information, please visit http://www.okrowing.org/tyra-summer-camps/

Tulsa Youth Rowing Association is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that provides rowing instruction for youth rowers in the Tulsa and surrounding areas.
