Alumni Pins – An Open Letter To TRCJ/TYRA Alumni

An Open Letter To TYRA Alumni – Alumni Portal On Our Website Here

Dear Alumni,

I am writing to you today to recognize your contributions to TYRA/TRCJ and to ask for your help.

First, I want to thank you for your investment and contributions to the club. It has been fantastic to see all of the progress that everyone has been making. It has been 15 years since I joined as Head Coach. I see alumni of the club getting married, starting families, starting their careers, continuing to row in college and helping others become better people. Your investment in rowing and our club has helped propel you in many ways.

In my new role as Director of Advancement, it is my responsibility to help move the club forward so that it can continue to grow and prosper. To that end, I have been assisted by Sam and Susan Stone who have made a contribution to funding the first batch of TYRA lapel pins.

The pins are just a small token of our appreciation for your loyalty and hard work at the club. In addition to recognizing your contribution to the club, the pins also represent something else. The pin is a symbol of our values. I presented the first pins to the graduating class of 2017 at the end of year banquet a couple of weeks ago. I reminded them that a true leader is someone that makes others around them better. I hope that as you move forward in life, you remember this important principle.

As we move into the next phase of TYRA, I hope that I can rely on your support to help the club with our fundraising efforts and/or with your investment of time. Our board works hard to sustain the club, however, the board is only capable of implementing its vision to a certain point before the support of its alumni is required. To that end, without alumni support, there is no legacy and you will be the driving force behind the path that the club takes over the coming years.

As part of our efforts to mobilize the alumni base, we have created an alumni portal on our website www.okrowing.org. We would very much like to stay in contact with you as we partner with you to help foster the club. In addition, I would very much like to give you your alumni pin personally. Please contact me at neil@okrowing.org so that I can arrange to give you/mail your pin. Alternatively, I will be handing out pins at the alumni row on June 17th (9 am to 12 pm) so please consider attending.

In conclusion, I wish you the very best for the future and look forward to continuing my relationship with you all.

With gratitude,

Neil Bergenroth
